När jag gjorde föregående inlägg om risk och avkastning så märkte jag att när jag kollade på olika index så skiljde det avsevärt i avkastning för samma underliggande värde. Jag kollade på MSCIs index och avkastning på dessa på deras hemsida samt på deras rapporter som de ger ut varje månad och de skiljde flera procent i avkastning per år. Sen insåg jag vad skillnaden var: Gross och Price index. Gross index eller Bruttoindex på svenska är pristillväxten + utdelningar, medan prisindex endast mäter priset. Då utdelningarna är ca 2-4 % per år så skiljde det 2-4 % i avkastning för de olika indexen. Det viktiga är att alltid se så att indexet följer bruttoindex och att man räknar med alla utdelningar, se till exempel skillnaden mellan SIX30 Return Index och OMX30 index nedan för de senaste 10 åren.

Det andra jag noterade var att det var stor skillnad mellan MSCIs index och de index jag fick fatt på hos Avanza och Morningstar. Världsindex hade ökat med ca 5 % per år på de senare men MSCIs index hade ökat med hela 7,33 % per år. Det som förklarade det hela var att den ena var i SEK medan den andra var i USD. Då dollarn har blivit billigare så har också det dragit ner utvecklingen för världsindex. Så egentligen har världsindex stigit med 7,33 % per år de senaste 10 åren, men kronan har stärkt sig ca 20 % mot dollarn vilket har ätit upp en del av denna vinst, se graf.

Med detta i bagaget så kan man tolka det som att världsbörsen är ganska billig i dagsläget då kronan är stark, men att man bör vara medveten om de fluktuationer valutan gör när man köper globala fonder.
